WARNING – Failure to Appear Scam

Please be advised of a scam using fake court documents and fake government correspondence asserting charges for failure to appear at a hearing allegedly related to a loan under the PPP program. Imposters pose as law enforcement officers and place telephone calls to targets indicating a missed court date and the need to post a cash bond to avoid being taken into custody—the paperwork may include a memorandum addressing “preemptive bail.” The public is reminded that if you receive any communication purportedly from federal court or any other federal agency asking for sensitive personal information, including an email address, or demanding payment through cash, gift cards, wire transfers, or digital currency – DO NOT TRANSMIT MONEY OR SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION. Should you have any questions, please contact the Court Clerk’s Office at (405) 609-5555.
